If you want to discover new trends and areas, Mario will be your advisor. Restless sommelier with more than 22 years of experience, he opened his own hospitality business in 2002: the Enoteca El Zarcillo, with a wine list of more than 100 references from all over the world.
Graduated in Hotel Management in 1998 from the Hotel School of the Canary Islands (HECANSA) and later graduated in Tourism from the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. He completed a Master's Degree in Viticulture, Oenology and Wine Marketing in Tenerife, organized by the Torras y Asociados company in 1999. He became a qualified Sommelier in 2004, at the Bellamar Hotel School (Marbella), being 1st of his promotion.
He has won, throughout his professional career, several national sommelier awards. Like the “Ganímedes” award in 2004, the 2005 “Torres Quiz Master” and the “1st Custodio López Zamarra Trophy” in 2007. In 2006 he was placed as a “Finalist” in the “Nariz de Oro” awards.
In 2007 he founded “Más Que Vinos Canarias SL”, a wine distribution company with an unconventional profile. Small, limited-production wineries that preserve and respect traditional cultivation and winemaking methods, producing wines with their own personality that faithfully reflect the grape varieties, climates and terroir from which they come. With a deep faith in Canarian wines, from its distributor it sells wines from the archipelago, Spain and around the world.
This distributor, which was born with a focus on the hotelier customer, opens to the general public through this website with the trademark "Vinófilos, Más que wines".
