Octavio del Toro



Born in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria in 1966.
He began to be interested in sculpture at an early age, entering the School of Applied Arts and Artistic Trades of Las Palmas, graduating in the specialty of Volume (Casting / Modeling).

He additionally broadens his training in lost wax casting at the same school. He opts for painting and leaning on his knowledge of volume, he explores the aesthetic contents of the Indigenismo current.

His restlessness finally leads him to enter the Luján Pérez School as a student. Since 1998 he has been active as a teacher at said school in the specialty of Drawing-Painting, as well as at the Luján Pérez Foundation in Santa Maria de Guía.

"Harimaguada" is the term with which the aborigines of Gran Canaria called a series of women who were part of a socio-religious institution before the conquest of the island, being a highly respected figure within the pre-Hispanic insular society.
