Where do the 49 herbs come from and are they organic and certified?
The herbs come from Europe, South America, and parts of Asia. 90% of the herbs are organically grown. However, not all are available in sufficient quantities to certify the product.
To always ensure high quality, we regularly conduct analyses at an independent lab for heavy metals, pesticides, and microbiological contaminants.

What health benefits do the 49 herbs offer?
The formula boasts numerous health properties thanks to the phytochemicals present in the herbs. Bitters, such as polyphenols and terpenoids, interact with bitter receptors in the gastrointestinal tract and other organs. They also influence intestinal microbiota and the intestinal environment.
However, due to European health claim regulations, we primarily market the formula as a "bitter product". Bitters have been recognized for their effects for millennia.
Their key benefits include:
• Stimulating digestion and relieving stomach heaviness, gas, and acidity.
• Improving fat digestion.
• Detoxifying the liver, promoting liver function and bile flow.
• Reducing cravings for sweets and fats, facilitating weight loss.
• Benefits for elevated liver enzymes and blood pressure.
• Valuable support during fasting and detoxification.
• Improving lipid and blood sugar levels.
• Antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.
• Diuretic action.
• Antimicrobial effect and improvement of intestinal flora.
"Vacation and harmony for your organs!"

Are there known side effects or contraindications to consider when taking the 49 herbs?
During pregnancy, for safety reasons, we advise against taking the 49 herbs, as some herbs can have labor-inducing effects. Additionally, individuals suffering from gastric ulcer or inflammation of the gastric or intestinal mucosa should refrain from taking them until the inflammation has healed.
Gallbladder removal or gallstones, on the other hand, do not constitute a contraindication. However, in such cases, it is advisable to start with a smaller quantity of the 49 herbs (e.g., half of the recommended dose) and carefully observe the body's reaction. Furthermore, it is necessary to wait approximately 2 months after gallbladder surgery before using bitter herbs and always consult with the treating physician.
In cases of intolerance to salicylates or in the presence of severe histaminosis/histamine intolerance, caution should also be exercised with herbs and spices, avoiding them or using them only in very small quantities and testing.
Additionally, the droplet variant is not suitable for children, pregnant women, and individuals with histamine intolerance due to the alcohol content. However, the powder or capsule variant is suitable for children.

Why are Bitter Herbs also interesting for athletes?
Athletes and bodybuilders, due to their high training volume and desired muscle growth, often need to consume large amounts of food, and bitter herbs help to digest it faster and better.
• They also aid in digesting protein shakes, which often cause bloating. Moreover, they can reduce putrefactive flora in the gut, favored by high protein intake.
• They specifically support liver function, which is heavily demanded by high protein intake, helping to break down ammonia from protein metabolism into urea.
• Excessive exercise and protein cause acidity. Bitter herbs are alkaline and help balance pH.
• They stimulate the production of various gastrointestinal hormones (such as GLP-1, CCK), which not only stimulate digestive juice secretion but also reduce appetite. They are particularly useful for controlling cravings for sweets and fats, aiding in weight loss and sports like bodybuilding.
• The intestinal hormone GLP-1 also promotes insulin secretion after meals, improving energy and amino acid uptake into cells.
• Polyphenols in the herbs activate brown adipose tissue, increasing basal metabolism, which can help control body weight.
• Additionally, polyphenols have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, benefiting gut flora, particularly useful for athletes exposed to high oxidative stress, which can promote intestinal inflammation.
• Bitter herbs have a mild diuretic effect, useful for flushing out excess water before bodybuilding competitions or sports with weight categories.

How are the bitter herb products made, and what natural ingredients are included?
All three versions (powder, capsules, drops) are made in Germany. The herbs are mixed or extracted in Germany, and products are hand-packed (powder, drops) or machine-packed (capsules).
They contain phytochemicals, mainly bitter polyphenols and terpenoids.
• ANCENASAN® herbal powder is 100% finely ground 49 herbs.
• ANCENASAN® Bittertropfen 49 drops are a natural alcoholic extract of 49 herbs with 35% alcohol and purified water.
• ANCENASAN® Leberkomplex 49 capsules contain finely ground 49 herbs and 60 mg of choline per capsule. Choline supports liver function, fat metabolism, and the nervous system. The capsule shell is plant-based (hydroxypropylmethylcellulose).

Are there scientific studies or customer reviews supporting the effectiveness of the 49 herbs?
There are no specific studies on our products, but there is a wealth of scientific research on the health effects of many herbs and spices present in the product, as well as individual components of the plants (such as the polyphenols in turmeric or the terpenes in gentian or olive leaves, etc.).
Additionally, many of these herbs have been used for centuries in European and Oriental herbal medicine (TCM, Ayurveda), demonstrating their value. Our numerous positive customer reviews also attest to the effectiveness of the 49 herbs.
Due to the European Regulation on Nutrition and Health Claims, unfortunately, we are not allowed to make statements about the health effects or specific diseases related to the product.
An exception in the declaration is the ingredient choline, which is another component of the capsules. For choline, there are permitted health claims that can be used in advertising, such as:
• Choline contributes to normal homocysteine metabolism
• Choline contributes to normal fat metabolism
• Choline contributes to the maintenance of normal liver function
• Choline is a vitamin-like substance and an essential nutrient that the human body needs to survive, but cannot produce in sufficient amounts on its own. It is particularly critical in vegetarian/vegan diets and plays an important role in healthy liver function, fat metabolism (vascular health), and the nervous system.
• Choline is a natural component of lecithin (= phosphatidylcholine) and a total intake of 400-500 mg of choline per day is recommended by various international nutrition associations. 2 capsules (= daily dose) of our liver complex 49 provide an additional total of 120 mg of choline.

What is the shelf life of the products and how should they be stored?
All products should be stored in a cool, dry place (not exceeding 25 degrees Celsius).
The shelf life of the products is at least 2 years.
The drops are the most durable due to the alcohol content of all three product variants.
The products are packaged in high-quality violet glass jars, which exhibit the unique filtering properties against harmful parts of visible light. With proper storage, an even longer shelf life can be expected. High-quality herbs are naturally preserved thanks to the jars.
Please do not throw away empty jars. They can be reused to store kitchen spices, teas, or oils.

Can I expect the benefits of the 49 herbs to be felt quickly, or does it take a while?
The effects of our 49 herbs, especially on digestion, stomach emptying, or satiety, are noticeable quickly. For the herbs and drops, effects can be felt within minutes, while capsules may take a bit longer as they need to dissolve in the stomach.
Other benefits, such as improved well-being, reduction of body/abdominal fat, blood pressure and blood sugar regulation, or improved liver health and fat metabolism, typically become noticeable after several weeks. Individual responses to the herbs can vary widely.

Why do ANCENASAN® Bitter Drops contain 49 alcohol?
We chose to use a 35% alcohol content in the drop version because alcoholic solutions have the advantage of extracting a wide range of phytochemicals from plants. While alcohol-free drops based on glycerin mainly extract water-soluble compounds, aqueous-alcoholic solvents can also extract fat-soluble compounds. Furthermore, an aqueous-alcoholic extract has a longer shelf life than one based on glycerin.
As for the alcohol content in a daily portion, we can reassure everyone. With a serving of 20 drops (1/2 pipette), only 0.25 g of alcohol is consumed, and with 2 x 20 drops, 0.5 g of alcohol*. This amount of alcohol of 0.5 g is approximately equivalent to:
• 160 g of ripe banana (1 ½ peeled pieces) with about 0.4% alcohol by volume, or
• 250 ml of grape juice, which may contain 0.4% alcohol by volume, or
• 100 g of dried figs (approximately 7 pieces) with about 0.6% alcohol by volume, or
• 120 ml of malt beer, which contains 0.5% alcohol by volume.
However, for those who do not wish to consume alcohol, we recommend preferring our ANCENASAN® herbal (powder) or our ANCENASAN® Leberkomplex 49 capsules.

Can allergics take ANCENASAN® Bitter Herbs products?
We have had very good experiences with allergy sufferers. Often, even if people are allergic to individual herbs, they tolerate them well in combination with other herbs in the mixture. The same applies to mild histamine intolerance.
However, if a person has severe allergies and has experienced anaphylactic shocks due to food in the past, we recommend refraining from consuming them. Consumption should also be avoided in case of salicylate intolerance.

How should I dose the bitter herb products and how often can I take them to achieve optimal results?
We recommend daily intake to best compensate for the lack of bitter substances and bitter secondary plant compounds in our modern diet. The products are usually taken once a day (powder and capsules) or twice a day (drops). However, the bitter herbs can also be used in a higher dosage over a short period (e.g., 2-3 weeks), such as twice a day for the powder or capsules and three times a day for the drops.
Taken about 15-20 minutes before meals, the 49 herbs can stimulate digestive juices, enhance the feeling of fullness, and help reduce the rise in blood sugar after eating. Consuming them before meals can support weak digestion, prevent many digestive issues, and reduce cravings for sweets after meals.
However, the bitter herbs can also be taken after meals and help address acute digestive problems such as fullness, bloating, and often heartburn. This is especially beneficial after heavy, rich, or late meals.
• Powder:
Mix 1/2 teaspoon of ANCENASAN® herbal powder (0.6-1 g) in approximately 100 ml of warm water, and drink before or after a meal. The warm preparation increases mucous membrane circulation, enhancing ingredient absorption. It is advisable to halve the dose for children under 14.
• Capsules:
Take 2 capsules of ANCENASAN® Leberkomplex 49 once daily before or after a meal, with plenty of water. For children under 14, reduce the dose to 1 capsule.
• Drops:
Take 20 drops (1/2 dropper = 1 ml) of ANCENASAN® Bittertropfen 49 twice daily, before or after a meal, directly onto the tongue and chew before swallowing. It can also be diluted in water. Powder or capsules are recommended for children.

What sets the 49 herbs of ANCENASAN® apart from other herbal or bitter products?
This product stands out for its unique formula and the large quantity and variety of herbs contained within it. The formula was developed 27 years ago (1997) by the founder Ann Beyer and is composed in such a way that the effects of the individual herbs are enhanced through the resulting synergies. "The whole is greater than the sum of its parts". As a result, a small quantity is enough to achieve many fantastic effects on the body.
The formula contains 49 different herbs and spices, the majority of which are bitter herbs, which in turn come from a total of 6 different classes of bitter substances. Therefore, the product surpasses in variety other bitter products on the market and is more than just a bitter product. The herbal blend has a pleasantly bitter-aromatic taste, but not too bitter, and has been very popular for decades, as evidenced by our numerous positive customer reviews.
All products are exclusively packaged in high-quality violet glass jars, which protect the ingredients in a special way from the harmful components of visible light and preserve the herbs in a completely natural way.
The 49 herbs are available in 3 preparation forms:
Pure powder (ANCENASAN® herbal)
Capsules (ANCENASAN® Leberkomplex 49) with an additional 60 mg of choline per capsule (vegan capsule)
Drops (ANCENASAN® Bittertropfen 49) from the natural alcoholic extract of the 49 herbs.
Capsules and drops are particularly convenient for on-the-go, and for all 3 product variants there are also practical mini versions for the travel or handbag.

Can children, pregnant, and breastfeeding women take ANCENASAN® Bitter Herbs products?
Children and breastfeeding mothers can also take the herbal and spice mixture in powder and capsule form. However, we recommend a smaller dose for children, of ¼ teaspoon of powder or 1 capsule per day.
• During breastfeeding, we have positive reports from mothers. Taking this can have a positive impact on colic or the typical abdominal pains of infants.
• During pregnancy, it is recommended to avoid the consumption of concentrated herbs and spices for safety reasons. They can also have labor-inducing effects.
• Pregnant women and children should also avoid the alcohol-containing drop variant.
